three weeks ago we flew down to a farm house with daniel's boss and his family. it was an experience that we will all remember forever. i have never seen anything like it. this family lived completely off their land. they would only go into town once a month to buy some cleaning supplies, sugar and rice. they made their own cheese, raised their own meat, milked their own cows, had their own garden... you get the idea.
the cute farmer and his wife were over 80 years old and they worked all. day. long. one of the pictures below is her cutting down a palm tree, peeling it, and then we ate heart of palm salad for lunch that day. it was really just so inspiring to see people love the land and creations of God like the way they did.
it took us about two hours from the airport to arrive to the farm. it was really in the middle of nowhere. and it was quiet. so peaceful.
