well! we've been sick over here since sunday. and when i say we, i mean he. henry. poor little guy is so sad. he must be teething. fever, more fever, and cold symptoms, and no appetite and no sleep. it really is the worst. as his mama i feel this terrible weight for his well being (duh) and sometimes when i see him sick for this long, and totally sleep deprived, i get overwhelmed. oh! motherhood!

anyways, he still finds ways to make me melt and smile and fill our little home with the sweetest, purest love. even if he is sad and sick.

sigh.

Happy Fathers Day + Our dinner table mess

today we celebrate the man of the house, d boy. and man do we love him! i cried during family prayer this morning, because i am just so darn thankful for him. henry and i made him breakfast in bed this morning. it was fun, although he didn't eat it in bed, we all ate in the kitchen together. but technically i did bring him breakfast in bed. done and done, check that one off the list. and, a shout out to my wonderful father, i went up to him at family dinner tonight and hugged and kissed him and said "happy fathers day, dad, you are the best father in the world" and he responded, like he does every time any of us kids say that, "well, i'm the only one you've got". yeah, well, he has a point, but he really is a special guy. i am so grateful for all he has taught me and the way he adores my mother, couldn't ask for much more.

this week we spent some quality time together as a fam. i felt like every night we had good food and good times. we had a parmesan chicken picnic in the park, ate at the local laura's mexican food restaurant and then last night we had some good ol' fashioned pizza pie cafe. daniel and i also snuck in two movie nights this week after henry fell asleep, i havent watched a movie with him in a while...it felt like we were dating again!

anyways, here are a few photos from laura's the other night. i didn't take any pictures of out food before we ate it...just have the aftermath of a one year old that is getting really good at feeding himself.

happy 1/4 of a century, baby.

^^isn't this the funniest picture of daniel? man, i am one lucky girl.^^

 well, well, well, look who turned 25 yesterday. my big lover man, daniel. since his birthday was on a sunday, henry and i wanted to do a little something for him saturday night. so we made stromboli, caprise salad, and better than "whoohoo" cake. and cream soda, of course. we packed it all up while he was at school doing homework and took it to duck pond park. my parents brought some flowers and a little table and we were set for a romantic evening. daniel's sister, vanessa had to do some distracting for a half hour because daniel finished early (of course), and i wasn't ready! but we made it work, because he was still surprised. then she played with henry while daniel and i ate. we talked, and giggled, and ate (a lot) and then henry came to join us. we are pretty happy together. anyways, it was a wonderful evening.

i love you, mr neeleman. so happy you were born, and even happier that you are mine forever. 

 

 then this little dude showed up...how dare he. all henry could think about was how he needed a ride like that.

a little bit of life.

dear blog, are you still alive? well, we are, and we are loving life. so much has happened this month that it is only fair to do a quick recap. daniel and henry and i (and the entire BYU LAX team) headed to south carolina for nationals earlier this month. we were ready. i mean, henry and i had all our byu gear, face paint and posters and daniel has taken an ice bath everyday (!) this year after early, early morning practices. we deserved it. we played played like champions on monday and won like them too. we went on to play the next day and took the win like it was nothing. then we found ourselves at final four. we played like champions the whole game but lost in the last two minutes by 2 points. it was a tough loss. henry cried (he was tired) i cried, we all cried.
other big events:

• henry is totally and completely walking (i thought he was a cute crawler, but oh man, he really is the cutest walker i ever did see).

• we went to nyc last weekend to watch seth (daniel's little brother) play in his lacrosse finals. the night of the game was like hurricane sandy all over again! rain and wind and cold! freezing cold! but henry baby slept underneath my poncho the whole game. it was perfect. we got to spend saturday in nyc, saw some teachers from juilliard, classmates and friends. oh new york. we love you.
• on tuesday night we headed to southern utah to hike at zion's national park. on wednesday we packed our backpacks (with wetsuits and everything) and made our way through the subway. it was breathtaking. absolutely amazing. going through slot canyon, with all the water was so fun and really cold. we went with my brother in law and his kids. we had a blast. literally. micka was kind enough to hang out with henry that day and we were away form him for a whole 8 hours!!!! i almost died. longest time we have ever been apart. 
• tomorrow is daniel's birthday and he turns 25. oh. my. goodness.
