sunday was such a beautiful day. we celebrated one of my favorite holidays (isn't easter amazing?) and blessed one of my favorite babies. and spent all day with my favorite people.
peaceful and dreamy.
my sister-in-law, victoria had her baby last week. the cutest little full headed blonde baby boy you ever did see. liam lance has made our life in brazil even brighter. victoria and alex moved to campinas 3 weeks ago and we are so grateful they are closer. i am not sure how she is doing all that she is doing but liam was at charles' blessing. and grandma vicki.
daniel gave charles a name and blessing. in the blessing he talked about the influence for good charles will have in the lives of people he will meet as he grows older. he talked about his powerful spirit of righteousness in our home and how grateful we are that he is ours. he talked about his full time mission and eventually marriage to a worthy daughter of god in the temple of the lord.
it was beautiful.
daniel of course gave it in portuguese, so this is what he told me he said...! ha.

Foz do Iguaçu
after rio com sam and kaori we headed to foz do iguaçu. but this time we traveled with daniel.
yes.
highlights included:
checked into a really nice hotel, realized it wasn't our hotel, checked into a much less nice hotel, hated that we weren't at the first hotel, explored the city, visited the falls, ate really delicious food, met my friend for life, tammy, went to paraguay, and swam in a kiddie pool. it was a success. but the favorite of the trip was certainly the foz.
the waterfalls were absolutely breathtaking.
oh sam, kaori and wil. please come back. we really miss you guys.
like, really.

dearest grandma,
i just wanted to let you know how much my little heart wants to be with you right now. i may be far, but my thoughts and feelings are close.

thank you for having my dad and raising him to be the best father in the world.
thank you for always making me laugh.
thank you for loving grandpa so deeply.
thank you for loving the gospel.
thank you for your hugs, your wrinkled noses, your kisses and hand holds.
oh i wish i could squeeze you right now.
love you so much.

Rio! PART 2
dear people.
lets talk about our last day in rio.
we ate breakfast in our hotel, the most amazing continental breakfast you have ever had. lots of tropical fruit, cheese balls and even raw fish. when the fish isn't cooked, you know you're in a fancy place, am i right?
we then realized that none of us had cash for the taxi ride to the christos redentor statue, so sam and i sprinted down the streets of rio in hopes for an atm. we finally found one and got back to kaori right in the nick of time. she was had all 3 kids, in strollers, at nap time. and for some reason the boys didn't like the strollers at nap time. of course.
we packed in the taxi and off we went.
once we got to our destination, we took little red cable trains up the mountain to get to the statue. it was steep. a reeeeaaally steep ride through the amazonian forest. (well, is wasn't really the amazon, but sam liked to call everything green "the amazonian forest") so through the deep, thick, beautiful amazon forest we went, to the very tippy top of the mountain.
| and charles slept through it all. after our mango smoothie, we headed back down the amazonian mountain. we walked the streets and ate a great lunch and then caught a flight back to campinas. |
so glad we left before carnival.
xx
